Spectrum Professionalism
After working with Spectrum for the past year, I learned a lot about being professional in the workplace. Spectrum as a whole wasn't always professional, but it's good to learn from these mistakes. Working for a business requires the appropriate attire, communication, and availability. Spectrum did a great job of always wearing the correct attire, but lacked good communication, and availability. At times, multiple leaders for the company were absent, and this became a common occurrence as the year went on. Also, as the year went on some employees became distracted on what our goal was, and started to communicate things that didn't benefit our company at all. All in all, professionalism is extremely important when working for a business, and we learned that from some of our past mistakes.
Communication
Effective communication is an important aspect of professionalism. As a Design & IT Specialist, I am always working with my department. Whether it's brainstorming ideas for a design, making the design, or pleasing everyone with our design. To do this, I must have effective communication with my peers. I do this by always giving constructive criticism when necessary and always giving my own insights. This is key component of professionalism because it shows you can communicate with your peers in a mature manner.
Collaboration
Collaborating with my department in a responsible and mature manner shows professionalism. Working together on business cards, name tags, the logo, letterheads, and most importantly, the website, takes a lot of collaboration. Always working with my peers in a respectful manner allows the best products to be produced for our company. This is also a key component in professionalism within a company.
As a department we all thought of a calendar idea for each month. We came up with this template. This template allows Spectrum to stay constant but also, we can write on it each month to make it unique.
Also, I've given constructive criticism towards our website because I thought there were some parts that could use some work. It was important that I talked to them in a respectful way, so that I don't come off as unprofessional.

Professionalism
Overall, there are a lot of other things that go into professionalism. This includes: project management, attendance, and responsibility. When creating new projects for our company we must always be organized. I always work in an organized work space because it allows the best products to be produced. I don't want to get current projects lost or mixed in with different ones because that makes our department's job as a whole more difficult. Also, attendance is key when working for a company. Having not missed a day this year, I'm always here to work on projects in a professional manner to better our company as a whole. Responsibility is also very important when it comes to professionalism. If my team needs me to do something or create something for our company, I always want to make sure I get the job done. Getting things turned in on time is very important to me and our company. Professionalism is something that I always follow when working with Spectrum because it allows us to produce the highest quality products.
Self-Assessment
Throughout my time at Spectrum so far, I feel that I have been very professional. I have rarely gone on my phone unless it was for business purposes, and I've never worked on other homework during class time. I've also always spoken with respect and honesty to my peers in order to maintain professionalism. I will continue to act in a professional manner when working for Spectrum so that our company as a whole can produce the best products.
For the Future
Being professional is important everywhere, not just when working for a company. However, my plans are to work for some sort of company in the design department because it's a hobby of mine. Learning how to be professional and stay professional is very important for my future because it's building good habits to be used later in life. Working for Spectrum has only improved my professionalism as a whole, and it is very beneficial for whatever my future entails.
